AMERICAN BULLY TRANSFORMATION: FROM PUPPIES TO ADULTS
POCKET AMERICAN BULLY PUPPIES
VIEW THEIR PROGRESSION FROM 8 WEEKS INTO ADULTS
Article Originally Appeared in Venomline’s Blog
It’s hard to believe, but 18 months have already passed since the arrival of the pocket bully puppies from the 1st ever 2X Venom breeding.
And, with the repeat of Venom and La Dolce Vita confirmed and due in less than three weeks, we thought that some of our readers might like to see updated photos of the puppies from each litter to view how they’ve progressed and see what they look like now.
In addition to the 1st 2X Venom litter, we’ll also be providing an update on Venom’s litters with Khaleesi, Vita and Swizz. The puppies from these three breedings are all aged between 10–12 months now.
In this article, we’ll take a look back at the puppies from each litter, from birth to adults to show their progression and the consistency of each of the breedings.
WHAT DO THE PUPPIES FROM A LITTER LOOK LIKE NOW.. AS ADULTS?
Most breeders are quick to show off their litters as puppies. Who doesn’t like seeing cute, thick pups on Facebook, Instagram and some of our other favorite social media sites? But oftentimes we’re left to wonder “did they turn out?” or “what do they look like now?”
Rarely, if ever do we get to see the end result and what they look like now, as young adults.
THE BOTTOM LINE
All puppies are cute. The true measure of a breeder is found in looking at their adult productions. And not just one or two dogs from a litter that turned out nice either.
Producing one or two quality dogs out of a litter isn’t too difficult. But what about the later picks from the breeding? How do they look now as adults?
Often, these later picks are hidden out, while the few that did turn out to be nice as adults enjoy the limelight.
TRULY CONSISTENT LITTERS
The majority of breeders do not want their litters seen as adults- especially the last picks.
But truly consistent breedings on the other hand, are the breedings where the puppies that were chosen last, or the later picks out of that litter- could be confused with some of the top picks when they reach adulthood. These are the breedings that impress, and in my opinion, should be the goal of every breeder. Litters that are consistent all the way through.
Below are a few examples of what I'm referring to... litters where nearly every puppy in the litter could be a top pick. And as these puppies mature and reach adulthood, you'd have a difficult time guessing which ones were top picks. Litters where even the last picks turn out to be better than other kennels' 1st picks.
But, before we take a look at each of the litters and see what they look like now, let’s touch on a few basic breeding terms to give our readers a better understanding of a few misunderstood and often mislabeled breeding methods.
INBREEDING
Inbreeding is a term that often doesn’t sit well at all with people and understandably so. But in dogs, the fact is this- the best examples in almost every breed have been the direct result of either inbreeding or line breeding.
Inbreeding is a method of breeding that is often mislabeled and misunderstood. "Inbreeding" refers to the mating of two dogs that are closely related to each other genetically, such as the mating of father/daughter or cousins. The closest possible method of inbreeding is the mating of siblings, but this type of inbreeding is not recommended and should be avoided.
Selective deliberate inbreeding is something that has occurred for many decades in the pedigree dog world in order to maintain the purity of bloodlines and increase the number of dogs in a breed that display certain, desirable characteristics.
Inbreeding of various bloodlines conceived of a relatively small gene pool is in fact how the desirable and distinctive characteristics of most modern breeds of nearly all pedigree dogs came into existence.
The problem is that while many responsible breeders have used inbreeding with purpose, equal are the number of "backyard breeders" which have used this breeding method (often times repeatedly) without being aware of the risks associated.
There are positives and negatives to these types of breedings that must be taken into account.
THE RISK INVOLVED
The upside is that an inbreeding “sets traits.” The downside, or the risk involved is that while an inbreeding sets traits, you could also potentially be doubling up on negative recessive traits. Traits that as a breeder, you may not even have known existed in your dogs or line.
Often times, because these are recessive traits they’re hidden, they aren’t seen. But this doesn’t mean that they’re not there.
Many American Bully breeders decide to carry out an inbreeding without doing the proper genetic testing or having any understanding of the potential risk involved.
Let’s use an example: In this example, let’s say that there are 8 puppies produced in a father/daughter inbreeding. Again, this is just an example, in no way will this determine the outcome every single time. Genetics are tricky.
Out of the 8 puppies produced in this imaginary example litter- about half of these, or 4 puppies will end up being damn near clones of the Sire. This is due to the doubling up of the genes of the dog that’s in the pedigree twice.
The remaining four puppies in the litter (again, this just an example of a typical inbreeding) may be born with issues.
DOUBLING UP ON TRAITS: BOTH POSITIVE & NEGATIVE
Remember, when inbreeding- you’re not just doubling up on the positive traits, you’re also multiplying negative traits.
So, while half of the puppies in the litter may be replicas of the Sire, the other half could have inherited two copies of any negative recessive, (or hidden) traits.
These can include but are not limited to: underbite, kinked tail, wry jaw, hydrocephalus, heart issues, murmurs and many more. The list could go on.
If the dog being used twice in the pedigree has any of these issues, or is even a "carrier" of any of issues (remember on a Father/Daughter inbreeding the puppies produced in that litter will carry 75% of the Studs DNA)
Any negative recessive traits (not just the positive) that the dogs carry (including some that as a breeder, you may not even be aware of) can surface.
For a breeder that’s solely interested in money- producing a few unhealthy puppies is no big deal. There are many breeders out there that couldn’t give two shits about the health of the dogs they produce.
But for true breeders- the real ones- that put the time in to study genetics, that do the health testing required to responsibly produce healthy liters, the ones who put in the hours to learn and hone their craft.. producing a puppy that has any health issues, defects, or is born with any type of pain or discomfort, can be devastating.
Breeders that truly care about the breed and about the puppies that they produce and sell- will only carry out an inbreeding after hours of research and completing genetic and health testing.
But, even after doing all of this and doing everything right… there is no guarantee that issues won’t be present. Again, genetics can be tricky and there are still issues that can pop up.
This is true with any breeding, not just with inbreeding or tight line breedings.
UPSIDE VS THE DOWNSIDE
When done correctly, the upside to an inbreeding is that offspring that are as good as the Sire (possibly better) could be the end result.
Additionally, dogs produced in inbred or tightly line bred litters (both males and females) typically produce more consistent litters.
This is due to the higher likelihood of passing on their traits to offspring over dogs with a scatter bred pedigrees.
Every one of the studs on our yard are either inbred or tightly line bred in order to produce the most consistent litters as possible for our Customers.
That’s just one of the reasons that so many people choose our Studs and also the reason they return for repeat business. They produce. Plain and simple.
Anyone arguing this fact either owns a Stud with a similar look and views ours as competition, isn’t a fan of the amount of business our Studs generate, or is unable/unwilling to pay our Stud’s fees.
Sometimes other breeders decide to go with cheaper options, dogs that carry a look similar to ours, but take a look at the productions vs our studs. They are not the same.
A tightly bred dog will always outproduce a scatter bred one, no matter how good the scatter bred Stud looks.
Now that you have a better understanding as to why we made the decision to carry out this type of breeding after having extensive testing done, fully understanding the risk involved (ones that most breeders don’t pay attention to, or know exist) We made the decision to carry out the breeding.
THE 1ST EVER 2X VENOM BREEDING
The 1st ever 2X Venom litter turned out incredible. We did our homework, but we were also lucky. Out of the 7 pups in the litter, there wasn’t a single one born with any issue. Not a single underbite, kink, heart murmur genetic defect or flaw. Every dog produced in the litter to now (at the age of 18 months) all have clean bills of health.
Obviously just producing a litter free of health or genetic issues isn’t an accomplishment or something deserving of a pat on the back, but in an inbreeding it is highly unusual, and speaks to the caliber of Venom as a Stud dog.
Because of the risks involved with inbreeding, these types of breedings should only be carried out for a very specific purpose, by experienced breeders and only after extensive genetic and health testing has been carried out. These types of breedings (inbreeding) should not be done often either, if at all.
VENOM X MOANA
One of the puppies from the litter, Champion “Lil Ting” is currently working towards her Grand Champion Title at just 18 months of age, while two of the others are close to earning Titles.
I would be willing to bet good money that the others in the litter, with a little work and attendance at shows, could earn Champion Titles as well.
But, not everyone’s goal is to Show their dogs or work toward titles. Many of our Customers are more than happy for them to just be a part of their families and that’s just fine by us.
Let’s take a look at the result of Venom X Moana and the offspring produced.

VENOM X KHALEESI
FBS/Venomline’s Khaleesi
Next up is the 2nd and only other 2X Venom breeding we’ve ever done: Venom and Khaleesi. The results of this breeding were amazing, and again without any issues. There were only 2 pups in this litter but both were extremely impressive. Pictured next is our keeper female from the litter- Venomline’s Dolce at 15 months old.
Dolce is part of the foundation females at our NC location- Venomline South.
There’s also a champagne male that is a replica of his sire Venom. He looks incredible as well, as soon as I receive updated photos of him from his new family we’ll be sure to add him as well.

ABOUT VENOMLINE
Venomline is known for producing some of the thickest american bully puppies and adults in the world, without sacrificing conformation or health.
Our Pocket American Bullies are known for having massive heads, dense bone, broad chests, wide shoulders, short muzzles, and being packed rock solid with muscle on short & compact frames.
We are proud to have produced several ABKC Pocket Champions.
When you take one of our dogs into your home, you become family. We are different than most kennels in the fact that we do not use a traditional kennel set up. Our dogs sleep in beds and they’re a part of our family, not kept locked up in kennels all day.
We pride ourselves in producing dogs that have “wow” factor along with great temperament and athleticism despite the heavy muscle/bone they carry.

TAKING THE STRESS OUT OF STUD SERVICE
Venomline is home to the best extreme build Pocket American Bully Studs and we provide Stud Service Worldwide.
In the U.S. we have the Stud Collected and shipped Priority overnight so that it arrives on the day you need it. If you need help timing the breeding, we walk all of our Customers through the entire process: progesterone testing, types of AI’s, and the best ways to properly time a breeding.
We make the process easy and stress free.
REMEMBERING WHERE WE STARTED
At Venomline we remember what it was like when we first started. Paying for a well known Stud was a huge risk. We didn’t have a few grand to pay for a Stud and just “hope” that it worked out. But we still tried, and our female didn’t take.. This set our program and vision back over a year. We paid a Stud Fee and our female didn’t take… unfortunately it happens.
But, when we called about the repeat breeding since our female didn’t get pregnant, I was told that they do not offer repeats and that were basically “we were shit out of luck.”
So, we do things differently. If your female doesn’t get pregnant- we don’t just keep your money. This is just one of the many reasons so many of the top kennels choose Venomline when reserving a Stud for their program.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There’s not too much better than receiving a call from one of our Customers telling us “she’s pregnant!” And that puppies are expected to arrive in about a month. It’s very exciting for our Customers and it still is for us too. Occasionally breedings don’t take, it does happen.
So what happens if you’ve paid for Stud Service only to find out 30 days later that she’s not pregnant?
What If My Female Doesn’t Take?
We will re-ship during your females next heat or you can use the Stud Credit towards a pup for sale or future breeding. If you choose to try again during next heat, you will not pay another Stud fee like many breeders would have you do. You just pay Fed Ex shipping and we will send again. We want you to succeed!
Will I Have Trouble Selling Pups I Don’t Plan on Keeping?
On top of covering unsuccessful attempts, we actually go many steps further. Since we know it can be difficult to sell a litter and get the prices you’re expecting.. and because we only breed to accepted Females- we will post your breeding on our social media outlets to help with sales.
Helping with Sales
We’re proud to Advertise our Studs going to a quality bitch. This will help you with sales, getting top dollar for your pups while growing your kennel’s following. Not to mention when using Venom, Omega, Rampage, Savage or King V (dogs that have huge followings)
This is just one of the many ways we go the extra mile for our customers. We have referrals available upon request and an entire group on Facebook where customers post and show off their Venom offspring.
Will I get a receipt with my Purchase?
Yes. You will receive a receipt for your records along with the Stud Contract stating everything we agree to carry out. This is for your protection as well as ours.
